              <text>Dopo aver ribadito il processo tecnico che ha portato alla formazione del San Matteo ghibertiano (due gettate unite assieme, la presenza di dettagli in argento, la presenza di morse non nascoste) l’autore le confronta con quelle tipiche del periodo romano, non trovando alcuna relazione e potendo quindi sostenere che la tradizione antica è andata completamente persa nella tarda antichità e che gli artisti del Rinascimento hanno dato soluzioni diverse a problemi simili. In particolare, la scultura bronzea rinascimentale presenta uno spessore maggiore, che preclude l’uso della saldatura e quindi porta a preferire gettate uniche in luogo dell'assemblaggio di varie parti, metodo questo usato per la statuaria bronzea greca e romana.</text>
