Two windows in the Cathedral of Florence
Title
Two windows in the Cathedral of Florence
Creator
Description
The article analyses two stained glass windows in the Florentine Cathedral, one by Donatello depicting the Coronation of the Virgin, the other portraying the Resurrection, the drawing of which is attributed for the first time to Ghiberti. This was based both on stylistic similitude and on the timing of this window commission to the glassmaker (on the same day as another drawn by Ghiberti). The artist, however, records in his Commentarii that he worked on three glass stained windows for the cathedral.
