Creator

Description

In the first part of the chapter, the author retraces, mainly by records, the history of St. James’ reliquiary and the reasons that brought him in 1899 to ascribe it to Niccolò di Bartolomeo, goldsmith from Pistoia. In the second part he confirms what Melani suggested, that in different times, different goldsmiths changed and added elements. The original component, made in 1407 (as written on the stand), was probably made in Florence.
