The Gates of Paradise panel with Jacob and Esaù story is taken as an example to prove that the usual pairing of arts and literature is not as obvious as it seems. The temporal structure of a text becomes a spatial structure in a work of art, thus, complying with difference in their nature , their fruition will happen in different ways; to the point where the represented story can be told only by the reader/onlooker.
