Science in the Art of the Italian Renaissance I: Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise - Linear Perspective and Space

Title

Science in the Art of the Italian Renaissance I: Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise - Linear Perspective and Space

Description

In this brief article three panels of the Gates of Paradise -Queen of Sheba, Joseph and Isaac ones- are compared between each other. Even if all of them reach their greatness thanks to the linear perspective, they show different degrees of perfection. This is also due to the increasing use of lessening the height of the figures to create a sense of depth. This study is part of a research project on the scientific knowledge behind Renaissance art.
