Portata al catasto del 30 agosto 1442

Ghiberti’s fourth declaration to the Catasto is the first one that is not written by himself. In this ‘Portata’ he is called “Maestro di San Giovanni” (master craftsman of the Baptistery) and his possessions are far larger than before: his house in Borgo Allegri is expanded, in San Donato Fronzano he owns a plot of land and a vineyard, he still owns the farm in Careggi, another one in Badia a Settimo, Florence, with a plot of land and a house for the workers and three plots of land in Montepiano. He lives in Florence with his wife and sons, Tommaso e Vittorio. The latter one owns on behalf of others a little amount of money at the Monte comune (the funded debt of the city).
